Magpie is the trader found in the Glen.

The only item that can be traded with him is the wool. Other items will result in dialogue but not an exchange.

In OneShot: World Machine Edition, Magpie's bio reads:

"An easygoing merchant and purveyor of fine goods. "Fine" in this case meaning "colorful and/or shiny". Still, it's always a good idea to check what's in stock- he might have just what you've been looking for. The shop operates on barter, though, so be prepared to give up something Magpie deems interesting enough for a trade.

Magpie used to have a much more impressive collection until his shop was tragically lost to the sinking ground, forcing Magpie to flee in the wagon that's now his home. Calamus and Alula are some of Magpie's best customers, finding all sorts of curiosities lost in the ruins."

Appearance[]

Magpie is a young adult with tan skin, short, spiky blue hair resembling a bird's face (eyes and beak) casting a shadow over the top half of his face, and one circular white eye visible from the shadow. His left eye is intact while his right eye is closed with a scar over it. A single blue feather sticks out from the back of his head. Much like other Bird People, his arms are covered with feathers and he has bird legs, though his hands do not appear to be gloved.

Personality[]

Magpie appears to be social with whoever might be his next customer, and is also described as "easygoing" in his OneShot: World Machine Edition bio. Additionally, his behavior seems to reflect real-life birds at times, such as with his like of shiny and/or colorful objects. His shop working on bargain, he has some bartering skills. He may be reluctant to trade some objects precious to him, but can do so if necessary, such as during the Solstice route.

Trivia[]

  • When attempting to trade the journal, it is revealed that Magpie cannot read.
  • Magpie is known to love glass so much that he has set up the trading post to make room for other things.
  • When attempting to trade every possible item to Magpie, the achievement Extreme Bartering is acquired.
  • Magpie's drink of choice is hard liquor, but only so he can collect the bottles afterwards.[1]
  • Magpie is in his early twenties.[2]
  • The 2014 release Magpie counterpart, unnamed trader, had purple and red feathers and clothes.
    • During the World Machine Edition AMA Nightmargin jokingly said that Magpie hid a body which has not been found yet.[3] Considering the fact that the purple trader is nowhere to be found in the remake, it is the most likely victim of this alleged crime.
